Research suggests that honey may be more effective than over-the-counter cough syrup at quelling nighttime coughing. Use a medicinal-grade variety such as manuka honey and take up to 2 teaspoonfuls at bedtime.

My grandfather’s cure for coughing at night was; honey, Rock n’ Rye (a kind of sweet whiskey), lemon juice, very hot tea and a shot of some kind of hot pepper. It always works.

Honey is very powerful. It is great for burns, too, leaving no scars 🙂
